We can also strip and totally restore your fireplaces
back to showroom condition !
We can strip most types of metals, cast iron, steel, brass, copper etc. Please note we can't strip any aluminium alloys.
We normally strip one or two days mid-week, if we receive doors before 11.00 am, we can usually get them finished by 5.00pm that day or at worst the by 12.00 next day.

I.O.W PINE STRIPPING SERVICE
What we can be strip:
Pine: strips great, such as doors, cupboards, chest of drawers, chairs, architraves, skirting boards, window frames etc.
Beech: strips very well.
Oak, walnut, elm: strips well, but can go slightly darker, with a greyish tint, but when sanded and stained, looks great.
Satinwood: very good.
Thin plywood: It can be done but we have to be really careful with it as it can start to lift off.
Metals: strip really well fireplaces, radiators, car body parts, gates and especially ornate items as the liquid can reach everywhere, but our process doesn't remove rust.
What can't be stripped:
Hollow panelled or sapele doors
Modern water based acrylic paint.
Modern acrylic primer: the topcoats of paint strip off fine, but the undercoat doesn't strip off, so you may have to sand it off with a palm sander, this is normally very easy.
Some modern acrylic and two pack melamine based varnishes.
Aluminium alloys.
Mirrors: only if you want a piece of glass hanging on your wall.
Ornate architectural mouldings made from plaster or guesso.
Chipboard, hardboard and veneer.

One of the most common asked questions is: does it loosen the joints or warp the doors. The answer is NO, not if it's done properly, the only problem you may find is that on some antique furniture, the wooden blocks that were used for strengthening were stuck with animal glue, and these can come off whilst stripping, also if the wood has lots of woodworm or rot and is soft, it may take longer to dry out, saying that, if it has an average amount of woodworm, it will kill the woodworm and prevent re-infestation.
Please remove all door handles coat hooks and other fittings,especially panel pins from when a door has been panelled with hard-board,these cut our hands and tend to make me a tad grumpy, also anything that will mask the paint
e.g. cellotape stickers, fablon ( sticky-back plastic ) etc
you can leave the locks and hinges on, we can strip these at the same time
